From the Bride, Ania: "Michael and I met online, an eHarmony success story! But, I wouldn't say the first time we met I knew. I actually thought he didn't like me at all. We met at a pub, and when I ordered my second drink, he asked for the bill so I thought he was itching to get out of there. But when it was time to leave, he offered to drive me to my car (which was only 30 feet away) so we could talk more. When I got out of his car to go home, he got out, gave me a hug and said so no one will steal you away.

After that moment, I knew! It felt like home, a feeling that I'd been missing with everyone else I'd dated.

He text me 5 minutes after to ask me when he could see me again and that was that. Here we are.

Our story is a little bit different in the fact that 2015 wasn't our best year. In April, Michael was diagnosed with stage 3 Melanoma. Long story short, 3 surgeries, 2 sets of radiation, a clinical trial that failed, and a new treatment, he is now starting to get better.

We had to cancel 2 trips (which later I found out he planned on proposing on). Towards the end of the year we decided to visit my best friend who I missed terribly in Victoria, BC, for New Years Eve. Michaels 2 best friends also tagged along.

On December 23, Michaels dad suddenly passed away. It was the Christmas that didn't happen. Proposing and getting married was the last thing on our minds (or so I thought). But, we didn't cancel our Victoria trip, we needed a break.

On New Years Eve day we went for breakfast with all our friends and spent the day site seeing and then stopped at a park to play frisbee. I could tell Michael was getting tired and sore, so before the evenings festivities began we went back to the house so he could rest. We decided to keep the evening pretty low key, no crazy bars or clubs, and my friend suggested this Christmas themed pub called 4 Mile Brewing Co and they didn't let us down. There. Were. Lights. Everywhere. Literally, the whole place was covered in lights, balloons, and Christmas decorations. It felt very special, like a scene out of a movie.

While we were waiting for the countdown, there were these balloon ribbons floating around that kept getting stuck in Michaels beard, he was getting so angry and I couldn't help but laugh because all he wanted was a clear path to my lips! On the stroke of midnight, Michael pulled me in, hugged me, kissed me and yelled in my ear marry me, Ania! And as I pulled away to tell him that's the plan! he was holding the ring. We both started crying. I was shaking, he was shaking. He didn't need to ask and I didn't need to say yes. We've been through more than any couple our age should, but I wouldn't trade it in for anything in the world. What we have is magical. And when we say those words for sickness and in health on our wedding day, I know we both truly mean it and that our love is a forever love. "

Asia & Michael were married this October 10th, 2016 at Valley of Fire State Park, located near Las Vegas, Nevada.
