Inspiration Behind the Shoot

From the Stylist

When we first put pen to paper to create the inspiration for this editorial shoot, our photographer Christie Mickelson and I decided we wanted to showcase the Shuswap region in British Columbia. This stunning region of Canada is well-known as a destination wedding location for its beautiful mountains and lakes. This romantic styled shoot took place at the picturesque Quaaout Lodge on the shores of the Little Shuswap Lake.

The tablescape we created was designed to be feminine and romantic, and included many warm pastel tones to evoke a feeling of the balmy weather. The design incorporated many timeless family heirlooms belonging to families in the region, from vintage table settings to candlesticks and glassware.

The elegant couple that modeled for the shoot are from the Shuswap Region. The bride wore a delicate and flowing gown designed by Truvelle, which was the perfect addition to this youthful shoot. Last but not least, the feature piece of the photoshoot was a breathtaking antique wooden pew set against the backdrop of the Little Shuswap Lake. This gorgeous bench once belonged to a local church, and showcases beautifully detailed craftsmanship from the area.
