Tessie and Joe were engaged for a number of years before they finally tied the knot. Both were incredibly busy with work and life, so it took awhile to find the time to plan the wedding they both wanted. They chose just 18 of their closest family and friends for the guest list, which provided for an intimate, getaway feel for the wedding weekend (and a three-day resort vacation for the guests). The ceremony was held at the groom's family's ranch, located next door to the resort, on a brisk October afternoon. The first snow of the year fell that morning, revealing dramatic skies and gorgeous colors. Guests cozied up in blankets and sipped champagne cocktails to stay warm as they watched Tessie ride to the ceremony on her own horse, and then walk down the aisle to her sweetheart and the wedding party (which consisted of the couple's two dogs). The couple exchanged vows they wrote themselves before gathering back at the resort for a five-course dinner, elegant libations, and a full night of celebrating.
Guests sat down to peruse the custom menu cards at each seat before digging in to the wonderful meal Joe had planned. The tables were decorated with vintage lanterns and pastel-hued flowers accented with blackberries and dark dahlias. For dessert, guests enjoyed the decadent and beautifully-decorated mini cakes on custom stands that had been placed at each seat. The result was more fun and personable than one large cake at the reception.
